Like so many hopeful stars before it, Databinder packed up to make a go in Hollywood.

Cross-country road trips often yield ample entertainment in their own right. There’s bickering early on, then working together to get through a cash shortfall, and finally a full-on disaster somewhere in the Southwest. I was looking forward to it.

But at the last minute Databinder decided to stay in New York and work on its craft with a small Brooklyn-based studio. Whatever. We just want the material, so here it is:

(It’s not perfect. I may go back and do a few more takes. But this is the general idea.)

The twist is that these plans have been in place since before Databinder. Like, in the War of the Worlds remake, when they realized the alien tripods had been buried underground long before the cities they rose up to destroy.

Spooky. Databinder’s film debut isn’t quite as dramatic—but don’t tell it that.

Very nice! It’s a bit jerky and stopped playing near the end, but very informative. Will start databinderify my little wicket application. :)

Stopped playing? That’s weird. Maybe it was just over? If you’re looking at the slider bar it could be inaccurate.

It’s jerky because … we’ll it’s complicated and I’m going to make an FAQ for it. Basically it’s running on very low-end hardware.

I’ve updated the video with a new take. Less jerkiness, and less of me forgetting to create the database before starting up the app. It has a “home”:http://databinder.net/screencast/ on the site now too.

Per, hope to see you on the “forum”:http://databinder.net/forum/ if you have any questions about Databinder.

Yes, indeed looks better now. Nice!
