From the paper: The St.-Tropez of Turkey, by Seth Sherwood

“LADIES and gentlemen, welcome back to St.-Tropez!” Cued up by a D.J. on an elevated white dais, a sound clip exploded through the warm July night, sending up cheers from the open-air dance floor of the all-white oceanfront nightclub.

I suppose that Seth feels very French, putting that hyphen in there and all. Of course, when you do abbreviate “Saint” as “St” in French (and you don’t for a city name, unless space is at a premium), you never trail with a period.

And .- looks stupid.
